SnAs: A 4K weak type-II superconductor with non-trivial band topology

Superconductors with non-trivial band topology are emerging as one of the best avenues to study quantum anomalies and experimental realization Majorana Fermions. This article reports successful crystal growth superconducting SnAs, which can have topologically states, evidenced in DFT (Density Functional Theory) calculations, Z2 invariants, surface state. Here, we followed a two-step method grow SnAs crystal. The powder XRD (X-ray Diffractometry) pattern synthesized ensures that is grown single phase NaCl type cubic structure EDAX (Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis) endorses stoichiometry as-grown sample. calculations performed without inclusion spin-orbit coupling (SOC) show inversion at various K symmetry points near Fermi level. recorded Raman spectra two different modes, assigned A1 ETO vibrations. ZFC (Zero-Field Cooled) & FC (Field Cooled), well isothermal M-H (Magnetization vs. field) measurements, also for topological superconductor, eventually confirms weak type-II superconductivity 4K. Various other parameters viz. kappa parameter, coherence length, penetration depth calculated probe sample's characteristics.
